MAXTECH 3T12M Full Knuckle Boom Crane Installed at Shipyard, Engineer Provides On-Site Guidance

13th Oct, a MAXTECH 3-ton/12-metre Full Knuckle Boom Crane (3T12M) officially entered the installation phase at a shipyard. To ensure proper installation and stable subsequent operation, MAXTECH dispatched a senior service engineer to the shipyard to provide full on-site installation guidance. From unpacking and acceptance inspection, pedestal positioning, hydraulic piping connection to electrical system commissioning, MAXTECH's engineer worked closely with the shipyard's installation team, confirming each installation parameter one by one to ensure the equipment is put into service in optimal condition.

This model is a best-selling product in MAXTECH's marine crane (Marine Crane / Ship Crane / Deck Crane) series, long favoured by shipowners and shipyards. Over the past two years, cumulative shipments of this series have exceeded 20 units, with customers across Europe, Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and other regions.

What Are the Advantages of This 3T12M Full Knuckle Boom Crane?

Its full knuckle boom design gives it an extremely low stowed height, without obstructing the helmsman's view, maximising valuable deck space – particularly practical for vessels with limited deck area. Whether on container ships, offshore support vessels, or chemical tankers, after installation the usable deck area increases noticeably, navigational sightlines are no longer obstructed, and daily operational efficiency improves significantly.

The boom can fold and extend like a joint, easily manoeuvring around deck obstacles to complete precise lifting. Traditional straight-boom cranes often struggle when faced with deck obstacles or when needing to reach into holds, while the full knuckle boom design allows operators to easily handle complex deck layouts and place cargo precisely into tight spaces.

The model offers a maximum working radius of 12 metres, hook travel of 30 metres, hoisting speed of 0–20 m/min, and slewing angle of ≤360°, balancing working range with operational efficiency. Whether for daily supply transfers, spare parts handling, hatch cover operations, or container lifting, a single machine meets a wide variety of operational needs.

This model has passed rigorous factory inspection by Bureau Veritas (BV), with testing covering the four core functions of hoisting, luffing, slewing, and telescoping, including no-load functional tests, load lifting trials, dynamic performance checks, and safety device verification. Customer feedback consistently highlights three points: compact folding, flexible operation, and low failure rate.
