China’s Most Reliable Crane Brand – MAXTECH

In ports, shipyards, and offshore platforms, when a crane breaks down, the cost is not just repairs – it means downtime, delays, and potentially safety incidents. For shipowners and port operators, reliability is never a bonus – it is the baseline requirement.

In China's marine and port crane manufacturing sector, MAXTECH is building a brand image recognised by customers worldwide – one of China's most reliable crane brands – with reliability as its core competitive strength.

I. Reliability Starts with Design: Precise Calculation, No "Rough Estimates"

Every MAXTECH crane begins with precise analysis of operating conditions. The technical team performs detailed load calculations and structural design based on the customer's actual working conditions – vessel type, cargo type, load cycles, operating frequency, ambient temperature, and wind/wave conditions. This "tailor-made" approach avoids the redundancy or insufficiency common in general-purpose designs, ensuring the equipment is neither "overloaded" nor "over-engineered" in actual use.

Take MAXTECH's knuckle boom telescopic crane as an example. Its multi-section alloy boom structure is optimised through finite element analysis, reducing self-weight while maintaining strength. When folded, its height is only about 2 metres, freeing up deck space and reducing wind resistance and centre-of-gravity impact during navigation.

II. Materials and Manufacturing: Uncompromising Selection Standards

Reliability begins with materials. MAXTECH crane structural components use high-grade marine steel, with key load-bearing parts made from forgings or high-strength alloy steel. Core hydraulic components adopt internationally renowned brands, and the electrical control system uses high-quality components such as Siemens PLC and ABB drives. Anti-corrosion treatment meets ISO 12944 C5-M standards, providing long-term resistance to high salt-spray, high humidity, and UV exposure.

In production, MAXTECH's in-house factories control the entire process from steel cutting, structural welding, and hydraulic assembly to complete machine testing. Welding procedures undergo strict qualification, and critical welds are subject to non-destructive testing, ensuring every weld meets classification society standards.

III. Rigorous Testing: Every Unit Must Pass Multiple Hurdles

Every MAXTECH crane must pass a series of rigorous tests before delivery. Taking the models certified by Bureau Veritas (BV) as an example, testing covers the four core functions of hoisting, luffing, slewing, and telescoping. Tests include:

  • No-load functional testing: Verifying the accuracy and smoothness of each mechanism's movement
  • Load lifting trials: Verifying load-bearing capacity to 125% dynamic and 150% static load standards
  • Dynamic performance checks: Simulating combined movements in actual operations
  • Safety device verification: Testing overload protection, limit switches, and fall-prevention devices one by one

After BV testing, MAXTECH's quality team conducts an additional 8-hour continuous simulation test, covering repeated folding, telescoping, and slewing combination movements, ensuring no leakage, abnormal noise, or unusual temperature rise during prolonged high-intensity operation.

IV. International Certification: The "Global Passport" for Reliability

MAXTECH's crane products have obtained multiple international classification society certifications, including ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, KR, and RS. Its 3-ton/39-metre offshore crane has also received an API 2C Compliance Statement and BV product certification. This means MAXTECH equipment not only meets Chinese standards but also complies with international voyage and operational requirements, enabling unrestricted use at major global ports and offshore platforms.

For globally operating customers, this certification completeness is itself a reliability assurance – equipment can be seamlessly deployed across different countries without repeated certification, and will not be detained due to compliance issues.

V. Intelligent Monitoring: Eliminating Failures Before They Happen

Reliability is not just about "no breakdowns" – it is about "knowing in advance when maintenance is needed." MAXTECH's MAX-AI Intelligent System includes three core modules:

  • Wire Rope Online Monitoring: Uses electromagnetic non-destructive testing to detect wire breaks, wear, and corrosion in real time, issuing automatic alerts
  • Slewing Bearing Wear Detection: Monitors bearing wear trends in real time, avoiding unplanned downtime from sudden failures
  • Anti-Sway & Precision Positioning: Actively dampens load oscillation, reducing impact loads and extending structural life

These systems transform traditional "reactive maintenance" into "proactive early warning," giving customers visibility of equipment condition before failures occur – significantly reducing the risk of unplanned downtime.

VI. Global Service Network: Reliability Extends to After-Sales

A crane's reliability depends not only on the product itself but also on service response speed. MAXTECH has established localised service points across Africa (Angola, Tanzania, South Africa, etc.), Asia (Malaysia, Indonesia, South Korea, Singapore, etc.), the Middle East (Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, etc.), and Europe (Greece, the UK, Spain, etc.).

When equipment needs support, local engineers can reach the site quickly – rather than dispatching personnel from thousands of miles away. In the 2.5-ton/40-metre knuckle boom crane project in Mauritius, MAXTECH deployed two experienced service engineers to provide installation guidance, system commissioning, and technical training, ensuring smooth operation in the hot, humid port environment.
